Filmcrew from Uzbekistan visits SoilRob
In early May, we welcomed a film crew from Uzbekistan to the ZALF campus. As part of the documentary “The Soil,” the team learned about the importance of soil as a living system, the challenges of soil degradation, and approaches to sustainable and regenerative agriculture.
During the full-day visit, the film crew, led by Shokir Sharipov, also gained insights into our work and learned about the conventional and digital methods we use at SoilRob to quantify and evaluate soil properties and processes.
Filming is supported by a grant from the German Agricultural Society (DLG e.V.). The aim of the documentary is to convey to a broad audience what soil is, why it should be viewed as a living system, and what a central role it plays for agriculture, the environment, and society.
Furthermore, the documentary aims to contribute to the further development of soil management approaches in Uzbekistan and beyond in Central Asia, and to raise awareness of sustainable soil use.
